Living Room

Fern Brogan and Michael McNamara of Interior Effects, Inc., have restored the spirit of the double parlor in this light-filled living room. Lush and whimsical fabrics on oversized upholstered screens create two distinct yet flowing new spaces.

Immediately off the entrance hall is the music parlor. The piano sets the tone for the restorative spirit of music. Neutral silk and velvet upholstered seating allow the listeners to float in luxury. These pieces are accompanied by billowing sheer draperies that dance along with our spirits.

The garden and hearth parlor is graced with a generous bay area and a traditional fireplace. Daytime is a projection into the garden and at night the fireplace is ready to gather around. The faux marble ion the surround and hearth is warm and inviting even in summer. A welcoming red and green damask sofa is ready for relaxation and numerous occasional chairs in sumptuous textures and colors are ready for conversation. The windows of the bay are treated with festoons and cascades that adorn and also yield to light and view.

Hand-made rugs cover the antique hardwood floors in both parlors. Contemporary art hangs beautifully on the deep faux-finished walls. All of these wonderful products of the human hand and heart are restorative to our spirits and essential to the work done by Interior Effects, Inc.
